MDF (Craftwood) or Melamine tops with double square tube folding legs securely screwed to the bottom.  Heavy duty option comes with steel rails to handle heavy loads

As the legs are "opened" - two steel prongs slide within a plate.  The ends of the prongs lock into the plate when in the opened position.

To fold the legs, the prongs are simply squeezed together - and the legs folded flat.
